I put a set of watercolors and a paintbrush in my Mom and Dad’s hands when they were 89 and 90 years old. I sort of hoped we’d have a Grandma Moses (or Grandpa Moses, as the case might have been) in our family but…well, not so much.
And, now that my parents are both gone, I really cherish the two paintings they did. I have both of their watercolor paints framed and hung in my home. Even more cherished by me though is the memory I have of sitting and painting with them that night in my cabin.
