Bring Everyone Into The Holiday Season With Christmas Ornaments For Jewish People
Finally, I’m writing a Christmas article for my people – the Jews amongst us!
We, Jewish folks, are frequently left out of some of the beautiful traditions of Christmas – such as adorning a family home with a Christmas tree, the Jewish version is known today as a Hanukkah bush.
When I was growing up in the 60s, no one would even discuss a Chanukah bush.
Oy gavolt, the tsoris! What was a Jew to do??
So, when I bought my first home, I was all about catching up on all those years missed smelling a fresh pine tree in the home, looking at twinkling lights, admiring the blingy ornaments hanging from the branches – who doesn’t love bling???
Times have certainly changed so that Hanukkah bushes are now more popular. Some of us today can accept having a Hanukkah bush in the house, but how do we decorate it with without it appearing as a Christmas tree?
Traditional Jewish colors are blue and white so my Chanukah bush usually shines in white lights with blue or silver ornaments. But, it’s still difficult to find just that right ornament that really makes it seem like a Chanukah tree and not a Christmas tree.
Well, fellow tribe members (or not….) I’m here to lead you in the right (if slightly skewed…) direction when it comes to finding Chanukah bush ornaments.
So, come on – let’s go have some fun discovering Christmas ornaments for Jewish people. And, from hereonout, a Christmas tree will forevermore be called a Chanukah bush – we are, after all, the chosen people so, periodically, we get to make the rules….
Jewish Star Hanukkah Bush Ornaments
No one can ever mistake a Chanukah bush for a Christmas tree when from its branches dangle some of the most beautiful Jewish star ornaments. And, if you ask me, the blingier the better.

Other Chanukah Bush Ornaments
Maybe hanging Jewish stars off a Hanukah bush is not your thing. How about these adorable Jewish symbols instead? I particularly love the Rudolph reindeer ornament with the menorah (candelabra to you non-Jews….) for its antlers.

Chanukah Bush Tree Toppers
Our Chanukah bush topper is usually an adorable Jewish star that my friend, Sharyn, and my husband, John, fashioned specifically for me. It’s made of blue and gold pipe cleaners and is my favorite Chanukah ornament ever.
If you don’t have a homemade Hanukkah tree topper, here’s some very nice choices on Amazon.com.
